Job Position: NPD Student Placement Department: NPD
Reports to: NPD Manager Hours: 40 hours per week
Scope of Role
Avondale Foods is a leading food processing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses such as Marks & Spencer, Lidl, Morrisons and Waitrose in the UK. To assist with new product development, redevelopment and innovations from concept to launch, meeting all the internal and external targets requirements, against prescribed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare, coordinate and manage all product concepts against recipe to the highest standard in response to customer requests, ensuring all deadlines are met.
2. Collect ingredients from the factory and ensure ingredients/packaging are in stock and in date.
3. Assist the NPD kitchen team during customer visits/presentations and submissions.
4. Complete relevant paperwork for sample requests, ensuring samples are produced to the required specification, labelling samples with description and use by, enclosing cooking instructions and any relevant paperwork, booking couriers when required and ensuring any additional information is enclosed as required.
5. Assist the NPD analyst as required in the daily taste panel and comparative benchmarking to ensure product quality is upheld.
6. Take responsibility for short-term projects where required.
7. Display and develop knowledge of current market trends and translate into recipes against specific customer markets.
8. Coordinate kitchen duties and ensure compliance with hygiene and quality regulations; the kitchen/work area must be kept clean and tidy.
9. Maintain regular communication to a consistently high standard with managers/technologists in all aspects of kitchen, factory and paperwork.
10. Refer to the assistant's schedule regularly to ensure all planned tasks are completed as well as additional daily/weekly tasks; adhere to Company general policies.
11. Undertake occasional travel to meet customers to meet the demands of the job.
12. Undertake other appropriate duties as deemed necessary within the scope of the role and meet the requirements of the job.
13. Adhere to Company general policies, i.e., Food Safety, Health Safety, Absence, etc.
14. This role will be a full-time position due to the nature of the business and will require a degree of flexibility to complete projects.
Essential
* Studying towards a third level Qualification in Food/Science related subject.
* Ability to deliver and complete tasks successfully and on time.
* Good communication skills with visible passion and enthusiasm for delivering food development.
* Ability to demonstrate good IT skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
* Good organisation skills with the ability to plan and manage individual workload.
* Ability to show initiative.
* Ability to gain and maintain the trust and respect of colleagues.
* Driving Licence.
* Able to undertake business trips and travel if required to meet the demands of the job.
Desirable
* Previous experience and track record of delivering NPD projects.
* Previous experience in a similar role.
