The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.
Job Description
The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking a Clerk 2 at OPOTA. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service, demonstrated commitment to protecting the unprotected, and a desire to work toward the enhancement of police officer training and law enforcement improvement. This position will report to the London, OH office as directed.
The Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy houses both Commission and Academy staff. Commission staff oversees training requirements and basic curriculum for peace officers, private security, local corrections, jail personnel, K-9 units, and humane agents, in addition to firearms programs for public defender investigators, bailiffs, probation officers, and parole officers. They also oversee certification standards of peace officers. Academy staff provides instruction in advanced, tactical, hands-on training for Ohio peace officers using the latest research, tools, and techniques.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of administrative and office support tasks. The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Performs general clerical duties: Processes & registers Academy student information; creates dorm room assignments; directs students & instructors to appropriate rooms; logs course information or data; codes & tracks data; researches files requested; makes corrections to filed data; maintains files; logs course information & or data; checks files for information requested regarding courses or registrations; makes corrections; maintains files by purging, consolidating or creating files.
2. Acts as receptionist providing information or data to students & instructors: (e.g. answers & directs phone calls, takes messages; greets visitors); photocopies &/or faxes correspondence; files information; assembles mailings; maintains daily log of shift activities & gauge readings.
3. Performs other related duties: (e.g. types various materials, operates video display terminal to enter & retrieve data, operates word processing equipment &/or personal computer); assembles mailings; performs filing for other agency sections; ensures doors are locked; notifies appropriate personnel of any problems (e.g., power outages, copier malfunctions).

Qualifications
High School Diploma; 4 mos. training or 4 mos. experience in office practices & procedures; 3 mos. training or 3 mos. experience in use of personal computer; 3 mos. training or 3 mos. experience in customer service.
-Or 4 mos. experience as a Clerk 1, 12111AG.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
