Rutland Nursery is an established family-run business, with a garden nursery, shop and restaurant situated on the south shore of beautiful Rutland Water. The Nursery has been in existence for over thirty years, growing and nurturing plants for the gardens of Rutland and beyond and expanding in the hospitality sector. We're looking to welcome an experienced Bakery Kitchen Porter to work in our kitchen team, working 20 hours per week. Working 1pm until 5pm, Thursday to Monday. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing dishes utensils, and equipment, as well as cleaning surfaces and floors Assist the bakers with various tasks if necessary, such as measuring ingredients, mixing dough and preparing baking trays Responsible for disposing of waste and ensuring recycling practices are followed Assist in ensuring stock levels are correct, ingredients are stock and organised. Receive deliveries Assist in maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment Follow all health and safety regulations, ensuring all practices in the kitchen are clean, safe and legal Maintaining food hygiene best practices is essential to protect all customers When supporting bakers, ensure that the products meet the high standards set When interacting with customers and suppliers remain professional and friendly Work as part of a team with the bakers and other staff SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Time management Physical stamina – you are on your feet for long periods of time and performing repetitive manual tasks Attention to detail for cleaning and organising Teamwork Basic hygiene knowledge – training is provided on food safety and allergens when starting in the role Good communication skills Problem solving skills Adaptability
