The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the West Midlands providing primary, acute and community services. Responsibilities:
1. Observe, learn & assist under supervision, the full range of work in the clinical engineering department.
2. Assist with medical device safety.
3. Assist with planned and corrective maintenance.
4. Inventory management.
5. Medical device lifecycle management.
6. Acceptance and safety testing.
7. Medical device decommissioning.
8. Assist in maintenance of records, equipment evaluation, development and audits.
9. Ensure any tasks are carried out as instructed and in strict compliance with agreed instructions.
10. Maintain accurate records of works undertaken.
11. Follow department technical procedures and safety standards.
12. Conform to all departmental safe working practices, departmental policies and procedures.
13. Complete an extensive logbook during the apprenticeship to support their application to become a member on the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) post qualification.
14. BMet (James Watt Campus) 3 times per week in year 1 and once per week in year 2.
15. BCU (Millenium point Campus) once per week in years 3 & 4.
16. Work-based learning will consist of time spent in all 9 clinical engineering sections at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare Trust, this also includes West Park Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital.
Flexible to cover the unpredictable nature of the service. Working days are 5 out of 7.
