Job Purpose
The Quality Manager plays a vital role in continually improving the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment in the college's journey to world class. Reporting directly to the Director of Quality and Professional Development, your primary responsibility will be to support, challenge, and coach teaching staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The post holder will work in alignment with all key regulatory bodies priorities and expectations, assisting in the development and evaluation of quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies. Your expertise and guidance will enable you to drive overall improvement in all aspects of performance, both college-wide and within your designated areas.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves working closely with the Director of Quality and Professional Development to design and deliver innovative training programs that highlight outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment practices. A key aspect of the role is to provide extensive coaching and support to teaching staff, helping them to improve their practices and actively contribute to their development plans. In collaboration with Heads of Institute, the Lead HE Quality Manager will focus on enhancing identified provisions, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.
A deep understanding of Ofsted priorities and expectations is essential, ensuring the institution remains compliant with their judgments regarding the quality of education. The role also includes designing, delivering, and evaluating professional development programs aimed at continuously enhancing teaching skills.
Support for newly qualified staff or those in training to be teachers will be provided, helping them to develop professionally. The Lead HE Quality Manager will also foster collaboration with other educational providers and external agencies to share and implement best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.
Engaging with learners to seek feedback and improve their learning experience is a key part of the role, as is using data to drive improvements in student success. The role includes active participation in college groups and events focused on teaching and assessment, and providing reports to the Vice Principal of Quality and Learner Experience and Director of Quality and Professional Development to ensure transparency and accountability.
Person specification
A relevant educational qualification, preferably at the postgraduate level.
Extensive experience in the field of teaching, learning, and assessment, with a proven track record of driving quality improvement.
Familiarity with Ofsted and all other quality assurance frameworks and bodies' priorities, expectations, and judgements.
In-depth knowledge of educational technologies and their effective integration into teaching practices.
Strong organisational and project management abilities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with various stakeholders.
