CNC Operator
Department: Production
Reports To: CNC Supervisor
Directly supervises: N/A
Main Purpose
To operate, set up, programme and run CNC machines.
Main Tasks
Interpret Engineering "working" drawings.
Fully machine parts as required from drawings supplied.
Program components on machine using information provided.
Assist Supervisors with any tooling or material matters.
Complete task on time and efficiently.
Ensure quality is achieved through attention to detail.
To follow inspection procedures
Work with minimum supervision.
Work within a team environment.
A very high level of housekeeping must be seen at all times in workshops and around machines.
Understand written and verbal instructions.
Endeavour to find new ways of doing things and learn from past experiences.
To look to improve working practices in the CNC environment.
Keep abreast of the required Health & Safety standards governing your job.
Maintain polite and good communication with your colleagues at all time.
Be prepared to undertake other reasonable duties as required.
The main tasks listed are not exhaustive but the above points represent the key areas pertaining to the role of a CNC Operator.
Qualifications/ Knowledge/ Experience
Flexible, versatile and willing to do a variety of tasks, CNC "Heidenhain" experience; perhaps Time served Engineer/Toolmaker.
Good basic Mathematical ability with an understanding of Trigonometry.
Familiar with standard engineering practices
Good problem solving ability and a flexible attitude is essential.
Must possess a positive attitude and display the ability to identify alternative solutions to problems.
Hours of Work
Alternating shift from:
Monday to Thursday: Either 6am - 2pm (Friday 6am - 1pm)
10 am to 6 pm (Friday 9.30-4.30)
£15.21- £18.05 Including shift
