Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a forward-thinking multidisciplinary consultancy who are part of a leading group in the environmental and planning sector, is seeking to appoint a Senior or Principal Planning Consultant on a full-time, permanent basis. This role offers the flexibility of a hybrid working arrangement, with the option to work from their Leeds office.
The company provides a wide range of services, including ecology, arboriculture, archaeology, planning, and landscape, to a growing client base across multiple sectors. As a Senior or Principal Planning Consultant, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects and offer valuable planning consultancy services to a broad range of clients.
Experience Required:
* A full, valid driving licence is essential due to the flexible nature of the role, which may involve travel to various locations.
* A formal qualification in Town and Country Planning (Masters/Postgraduate/First Degree).
* Full membership (or eligibility for full Chartered Membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
* Significant experience and skills in Town & Country Planning, ideally within the private sector.
* Strong knowledge of planning regulations, policies, and development management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide planning consultancy services to public, private, and third-sector clients, offering expert advice on a wide range of planning projects.
* Manage planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring high standards and timely delivery. This includes leading on planning applications, site promotions, appeals, and overseeing project budgets, invoicing, and contract-specific financial details.
* Review and comment on technical reports, ensuring alignment with planning guidelines and best practices.
* Prepare planning applications, including drafting Planning Statements and conducting site visits with clients and colleagues.
* Collaborate with technical consultants, statutory consultees, and Planning Officers to ensure the smooth progression of planning applications.
* Represent the company in public speaking engagements, including planning committees and public consultation events, when required.
Requirements:
* Proven ability to manage and deliver planning projects efficiently, ensuring high quality and within budget.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
* High attention to detail when preparing planning documents and reports.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
