Project Engineer - West Kilbride
As a Project Engineer, you will support the Project Manager or Construction Manager in managing allocated work from assignment to close out, covering all duties related to work delivery as requested by the Project Manager or Construction Manager in order to ensure that the work is conducted in a safe, timely, and effective manner to its conclusion. This is a project-based role requiring daily site attendance. Please note potential candidates for this role must be able to obtain and retain CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) level security clearance to be considered for this position (Minimum 3 years residence in UK).
Responsibilities
1. Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards, company procedures and policies, and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
2. Support the Project Manager with day-to-day activities required to deliver work in line with the project plan including safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
3. Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including Quality Plans and other documents as required.
4. Ensure production of technical specifications and support the process of contractor selection and contract placement.
5. Review technical documentation including contractor's documents and drawings.
6. Ensure technical queries are managed in accordance with processes and procedures.
7. Carry out technical appraisals of project options.
8. Perform feasibility studies, site surveys, and liaison with designers and station engineering staff as required.
9. Prepare engineering changes and manage the preparation of supporting and affected documents.
Qualifications
Essential:
1. Suitable relevant project experience within engineering/construction projects, including the application of project management processes.
2. Suitable relevant technical experience including the preparation of technical documentation, the review and approval of technical proposals and procedures, experience of construction, testing, and commissioning activities.
3. Experience of Engineering in a project and operational environment.
4. Proven experience as a project coordinator, project engineer, or project manager.
5. HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

About the Team
Costain helps to improve people's lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent needs across the UK's energy, water, and transportation infrastructures. Costain provides a project controls and commercial managed service to portfolios and programmes of work across EDF Energy's eight UK nuclear power stations.
As part of this work, Costain will develop people capability in core project control skills and provide specialist support to EDF's Central Technical Organisation to improve project performance and deliver cost efficiencies. We are supporting EDF in two main areas: 1) to successfully deliver projects that maximize the lifespan of their generating stations; 2) to successfully deliver a Defueling & Decommissioning programme, a first of a kind endeavour for the UK.
