An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of Medicine on Ward 17 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary for a Band 7 ward leader.
Ward 17 is a 26 bedded mixed general medical ward and our Stroke step down unit.

Applicants need to have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills that will enable them to motivate, challenge, influence and inspire their colleagues at all levels, and have an understanding of leading and managing an acute inpatient ward,with experience of managing change.
As Ward Leader you will be integral to the Multidisciplinary Team acting as patient advocate and providing expert knowledge and guidance. You will also provide supervision and training to peers and junior staff.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to demonstrate good clinical assessment skills, positive use de-escalation techniques particularly whilst being able to listen in order to respond to service users need.

1. Senior Nurse/ Midwife with post registration and speciality experience
2. Can demonstrate the ability to undertake 24 hour responsibility for the ward / department
3. Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentorship
4. Experience of Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse in an inpatient setting
5. Minimum 4 years post registration experience with 2 years at Band 6.
