Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Women's Health Division at University College London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as the interim Matron for Governance, Safety and Assurance (Band 8b) until June 2026.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will take a lead role, in partnership with the Director of Midwifery (DOM), Clinical Director for Maternity, and Divisional General Manager, in developing the Division's strategic direction and policy framework in relation to clinical services, ensuring that the division contributes to the achievement of corporate objectives and that effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained. The post holder will ensure governance structures and processes are effective and embedded according to the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
The post holder will be a strong advocate for excellent family-centred care and provide professional leadership to midwifery, nursing, and non-registered staff at all levels, ensuring that care is provided to a high standard. They will work collaboratively with other trust equivalent leads, Local Maternity and Neonatal System, as well as regional forums to share best practices and build a supportive network.
The post holder will be required to communicate and provide highly complex information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Registered Midwife with Degree or Diploma
* Relevant First Degree or equivalent education
* Relevant Master's Degree or working towards completion within the next year
* Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
Experience
* Experience of demonstrating robust governance and performance management systems
* Working with service users to improve patient experience
* Expert knowledge of professional engagement and involvement practice and approaches
* Significant experience of managing multiple projects
* Significant experience in engagement disciplines/methods.
