Job summary The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Recovery Support Worker inRussell Clinic the rehabilitation and recovery inpatient ward, based at WonfordHouse, Exeter. You will be workingwith a dynamic, motivated and skilled team to provide occupation therapyinterventions to adults who experience complex psychosis. About you This post issuitable for an experienced Recovery Support Worker with experience of workingin an inpatient setting, or someone with experience of working with people withenduring mental health diagnosis. Effectivecommunication is an essential skill for this role, so we expect you to haveexcellent verbal and written skills. You will be expected to keep clinicalrecords up to date and be proactive in engaging with service users. You will oftenwork under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking forsomeone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and work as part ofthe team to coordinate activities from a therapeutic timetable. We follow the 5areas of wellbeing so desirably the post holder will have a level of fitnessand an understanding of how this contributes to someones recovery. Main duties of the job Under the daily supervision of mental health practitioners, the post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of recovery care plans for adults with a range of mental health presentations in the a rehabilitation inpatient setting and community. This will involve working across agencies e.g. Vocational Services, Primary Care, Complex Care Teams and Third sector organisations. The post holder will work intensively with people to support them on the ward initially and in their home, preventing hospital admission and facilitating hospital discharge The post holder will be expected to work to a clearly defined personal recovery plan outlining their role and the range of interventions required. This will include a significant monitoring role of people on behalf of the team. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Basic education To complete care certificate within 6 months of employment, unless already obtained or evidence of equivalent agreed and signed off by appointing officer at interview, if not, if not this will be a trainee post until completion Desirable Other evidence of training or demonstration of working in a mental health setting. Previous care experience with people that have mental health diagnoses. Knowledge of mental health and a basic understanding of physical health presentations Experience Essential Previous employment /experience of working with people with mental health diagnosis in a caring situation or previous experience of working in different roles within mental health services. Can you please demonstrate an awareness of safeguarding principles and explain a situation where you have followed safeguarding procedure. Can you please describe how you make and sustain therapeutic relationships and what that means to you. Can you demonstrate an awareness of difficulties or obstacles there may be to sustaining these relationships, in relation to people with a mental health diagnosis of psychosis. There may be times when you are required to work as an individual or run a group, can you demonstrate your ability to do this. IT skills are key to this role, you will be working with complex record systems, recording patient notes and must have good time management skills. It is important to use a range of communication skills working with this client group and with the wider team. Can you demonstrate how you use these?
