What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a Senior IT Technician to join our team providing IT support across our schools to staff and students.
You will provide first line support including call logging, diagnostics and resolving support incidents. You will gain experience of IT projects and upgrades.
The successful applicant will work as part of an existing team to support around 1100 users across two school sites in New Milton.
We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, enthusiastic and organised with good communication skills and IT knowledge. Experience in an IT support role is essential, preferably in an education setting, although not essential. Experience of leading or overseeing an IT team is preferrable.
The post is full-time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year with 24 days paid holiday. Consideration would be given to part-time working for an outstanding candidate.
Responsibilities include:
• Working as part of a team to enable a smooth operation and availability of all IT, network, computer & cloud services for the schools
• Offer IT support as a 1st point of technical contact, helping the IT apprentice
• Working to Service Level Agreements for all schools and staff of the Trust, aiming for response and resolution target times
• To manage workflow within the IT department
• Working with Office365 cloud and email services
• Work under existing effective IT systems and offer suggestions for improvement
• Update essential spam filtering to keep email content appropriate for all staff & students
• Providing 1st point of technical support in networking equipment across the school sites
• Ensure Wi-Fi access is available across sites, provide guest access & appropriate Wi-Fi/internet access for all staff & students
• Updating file access with appropriate permissions & sharing areas
• Ensure new equipment for staff/students including PCs, projectors, electronic white boards, cameras etc. is suitable for the needs of users
• Participate in discussions with users to understand their ICT requirements and recommend solutions to meet their needs in terms of hardware and software
• Identify areas that the Trust can improve our service and share these with the Director of IT
• Fitting new hardware to assets
• Make network cables, test and re cable rooms as required Regularly checking all IT equipment
• To manage printers
• Provide network and peripheral support to staff during lessons
• Assist with the development of the IT Technicians across the Trust, sharing knowledge and good/best practice
• Be an escalation route for Trust IT Technicians when problems arise or support is required
