Occupational Therapist - Community neuro rehab team
An opportunity has arisen with the North (Horsham, Crawley and Mid-Sussex) Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) to work as an Occupational Therapist on a 12 month fixed term contract until end of June 2026.
The post holder will manage a varied and complex caseload providing skilled occupational therapy intervention for people requiring assessment and neuro-rehabilitation when they are experiencing impairments that impact upon high level functioning and activities. The post holder will focus their interventions on supporting people to increase their autonomy and independence within their homes; enhance their social participation and psychological well-being and facilitate the resumption of roles important to the person including education or employment. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to education for the person, their family and the wider support network and to act as a resource for CNRT. Experience of working with people with neurological conditions within the community is essential and you will need to be an effective communicator who can work flexibly and proactively to deliver a prompt and clinically effective service. You should be a creative problem solver and demonstrate a willingness to develop and pilot new ideas.
Main duties of the job

* To collect and report on data relating to the service
* To support with service development and development of others as required
* To support junior staff and students as required.

Job responsibilities
We are seeking an OT who has significant post graduate neuro experience, who is a dynamic MDT worker, able to use initiative and who would relish the challenge of being able to help provide a comprehensive and enabling service to the residents of Crawley, Horsham and Mid-Sussex. The successful applicant will be supported to develop more specialist and advanced clinical and leadership skills.

Qualifications
* Degree/ diploma in occupational therapy
* HCPC registration
* Post Graduate training in a Neuro field
Other requirements
* Access to vehicle for travel to patient homes/alternative work locations
* Able to work across multiple sites covered by CNRT
* Flexible approach to work, dependent on operational needs of the service
Experience
* Experience of working as a Band 5 or above in a neurological and/or community setting for at least 12 months
* Broad range of experience in community and acute settings
* Experience of SSNAP data collection
Knowledge and skills
* Broad general and neurological clinical knowledge
* Use of evidence-based practice
* Use of IT systems/Microsoft software packages
* Knowledge of basic and complex equipment used to facilitate independence
* Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
* Understanding barriers to effective communication
* Ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others
