Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are looking to appoint a Higher Level Pharmacy Technician - Dispensary and Medicines Optimisation based at either Stoke Mandeville or Wycombe Hospital. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician who would like to develop their clinical skills on the wards and their leadership skills by assisting in the day to day running of the dispensary to achieve their full potential working in a busy acute hospital setting.
The person appointed will support the Team Leader for Dispensary Services and the Senior Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation Technician in the implementation of agreed strategy changes and provide safe and effective care to patients and service users.
Technicians interested in this position are required to bring with them motivation, an enthusiasm to promote new ideas, a determination to succeed in a challenging environment, the ability to remain calm under pressure and a commitment to future developments in pharmacy services.
· Participatein thedispensingofmedicinesatwardlevel and in the dispensary in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
· Hold anAccreditedCheckingPharmacyTechnician(ACPT)qualification and maintain this by participating in the ACPT rota in the main inpatient dispensary and as part of the delivery of medication via the satellites.
· Assist the section leads in the management, development and delivery of a high quality, patient centred and cost-effective pharmacy service.
· UndertakeMedicinesOptimisationduties at ward-based level as per rota.
· Promoteacultureoflearninganddevelopmentwithin the Pharmacy MOT and dispensary teams.
· Follow all legal and departmental practices including SOPs, COSHH, Lifting and Handling Regulations and all Trust Policies and Procedures.
· Be expected to contribute to the development of pharmaceutical services, and to promote the highest standards of professional practice, whilst always observing the "Statement upon Matters of Professional Conduct" issued by the General Pharmaceutical Council
· Ensuregoodcommunicationbetweenward-basedpharmacyservices,non-pharmacyhealthcareprofessionals,inpatientdispensary,andprocurement and distributionservices to promotedischargeplanningandco-ordinationtoenhancecontribution totheachievementoftheTrust’stargets.
