The Mortgage Advisor will provide an efficient and professional mortgage advisory service to the Society's members and customers through compliant regulated meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide accurate mortgage advice to prospective mortgage customers face-to-face and/or over the telephone.
2. Support the delivery of the Society's mortgage retention strategy through proactive contact with customers in advance of their current scheme ending.
3. Process mortgage applications on the Society software system and complete all procedural administrative documentation efficiently, liaising with the customer during the application process.
4. Maintain accurate records and notes throughout all stages of the mortgage application.
5. Approve mortgage applications within specified limits in accordance with Society Lending Policy.
6. Consider mortgage applications outside standard lending policy where a justifiable business reason exists.
7. Present out of criteria cases to the Credit Risk Committee with appropriate recommendations and rationale.
8. Maintain professional business relationships with BDMs, mortgage introducers, and external contacts, providing information and guidance when required.
9. Take ownership for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory matters and sharing with colleagues across the Mortgage Department.
10. Maintain knowledge and comply with all legal responsibilities and codes of conduct to which the Society must comply, i.e., Vulnerable Customers, AML, MCOB, DPA, FCA, etc.
11. Meet all requirements of the Training & Competence scheme.
12. Deal with customer dissatisfaction and complaints as required.
13. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of products, policy, processes, and procedures.
14. Capture all risk events and near misses on the events log within 48 hours of identification.
15. Carry out such other duties, which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities, and expectations of the position.
16. Comply with all frameworks, policies, and procedures relevant to this role.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. This role is a certified role under the certification scheme.
2. CeMap qualified or industry equivalent.
3. 5 GCSE at Grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent.
4. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
5. Experience of Microsoft packages including Word & Excel.
6. Ability to independently manage multiple tasks.
7. Strong attention to detail.
