Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Allied Health Professional team in Older Adult Urgent Care Mental Health within the Black Country. The role will allow the successful applicant to develop clinical and leadership skills in a fast-paced hospital environment, whilst working as part of a multi-professional team on the Older Adult Urgent Care Wards. This is an opportunity to establish your skills and knowledge in a specialist Physiotherapy service and be part of striving for excellence for our patient population. The Trust is dedicated to the development of its staff and there are a wide range of learning and training opportunities available.
The multi-disciplinary team provides both specialist assessments to service users experiencing acute mental health crisis and offers a needs-led, recovery-focused, individual and group-based activity and therapy programme, supporting individuals recovering from mental health crisis and additional physical health conditions.
We are looking for somebody who is ambitious, enthusiastic, has a desire to learn, with a genuine interest in working with this patient group.
Main duties of the job
* Plan and provide high standard Physiotherapy assessment and treatment interventions to older adults with mental health needs, including dementia and mental health diagnoses, within specified inpatient and/or community settings.
* Develop evidence-based knowledge and client-centred practice in this field to assess, plan, implement and evaluate one-to-one and group-based interventions within the setting.
* Allocate work to Physiotherapy Assistants and provide ongoing support on a daily basis, as well as supervision.
* Work across the Black Country area within the Physiotherapy teams to cover and support in times of high clinical demand.
* Primarily work within Busheyfields Hospital, but may be required to cover clinical need at another site.
Person specification
* Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
* Understanding of role of Physiotherapy in Elderly mental health
* Post qualification experience relevant to role
* Additional training in falls management in elderly care
