Job overview
As a Population Health Intelligence Specialist Apprentice, you will focus on analysing health and care data to improve public health outcomes in line with UHNM strategy, support decision-making, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services. The role involves working with diverse data sources, collaborating with partners, and developing a data-driven approach to population health improvement.
This role will be based within UHNM but will work, as needed, on cross-organisational project work with the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board, local authorities, and other statutory and voluntary organisations.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities are in line with the apprenticeship standard for the Health and Care Intelligence Specialist standard (Level 7) and include:
1. Lead on the linking, analysis and interpretation of complex health, care and population data.
2. Lead the interpretation and presentation of health and care intelligence.
3. Lead or advise on the investigation of patterns and variations in determinants, diseases, conditions influencing health and care outcomes and service evaluations.
4. Lead the design and implementation of health and care surveys and service evaluation tools.
5. Search for and critically appraise relevant evidence and scientific research on health and care intelligence, health determinants and interventions to improve population health or the delivery of care.
6. Lead the establishment and development of excellent working relationships with health and care system partners, colleagues and the wider team.
7. Lead the delivery of multiple complex health and care intelligence projects, reviewing and adjusting priorities to meet changing organisational needs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The person is expected to complete a masters degree level HCIS apprenticeship (Health & Care Intelligence Specialist) as accelerated training over a 22 month period. Apprentices will learn how to design studies in population health, public health and epidemiology and lead on analytical projects that will improve implementation of services and inform evidence-based decision making and policy across health and social care.

Qualifications
* Required Mathematics Qualifications or Experience (STEM degree)
* Undertaking an analyst role at Band 6/7 (or equivalent experience in a non-healthcare analytical role)
Knowledge and skills
* Knowledge and understanding of the key concepts of population health management, including the wider determinants of health
* High level analytical skills
* Knowledge of research methods and design
* Ability to show initiative and be creative.
