Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic Oncology Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, in a locum role covering Neuroendocrine and GI oncology in a growing service in Northwest London. ICHT is the regional cancer centre for an inner North West London population of approximately 2 million and is the largest recruiting centre to clinical trials in this sector.
This is a new additional post due to expansion of clinical activity, and to support research priorities for the trust. This post as per current job plan would ideally suit a medical oncologist although expressions of interest from clinical oncologists with a specialist interest in systemic anticancer treatments for these tumour sites would also be welcome. This post is a new post, locum for one year, with a view to substantive appointment.
The Trust offers specialist care for almost all cancers (excluding paediatrics and sarcoma) and is a lead site for the National Gestational Trophoblastic Disease service (only one of 2 centres in England). There is a 50% component of the work at both ICHNHST & Frimley Health NHS Foundation and 50% ICHNHST. The former consists of working on the King Edward VII (outpatients) Windsor, & Wexham Park Hospital sites. The rest of the weekly responsibilities are out-patient clinics at Hammersmith Hospital (with occasional Charing Cross site for the inpatient care rotation shared by all consultants).
Main duties of the job
1. Work collaboratively with the ICHT NET team across oncology, surgery, endocrine and nuclear med teams to provide care to patients of Northwest London and wider networked units.
2. Support the delivery and management of the GI medical oncology service for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
3. Work collaboratively, offering cross cover, recruitment to and assessment of trials, active metastatic disease & complex case discussion with Prof Rohini Sharma for NET and Prof Harpreet Wasan for GI oncology.
4. Offer support and training to all non-consultant grade doctors within the unit.
5. Boost the departments research output.
