Title: Business Unit Manager Location: Yorkshire Duration: Permanent Our client is looking for a Business Unit Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of all departments on-site, while driving cross-functional collaboration and commercial growth. Key Responsibilities: • Take ownership of a key business unit, managing approximately 50 FTEs. • Be a vital part of the senior leadership team • Shape the operational strategy and support the lab’s alignment with ISO 17025 standards and the company’s Quality Management System. • Champion customer-focused innovation by translating client requirements into actionable operational improvements • Full P&L responsibility for the business unit. • Manage budgets and costs • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process optimisations to drive performance. • Ensure the safe, compliant, and smooth day-to-day running of the laboratories. • Maintain compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, and Security Regulations. • Drive a culture of continuous improvement • Oversee laboratory registration processes, equipment maintenance, audit participation, and complaint handling. • Develop and mentor management and supervisory teams. • Focus on staff retention, engagement, and professional growth. • Ensure optimal shift patterns, workforce planning, and recruitment of high-calibre staff. • Collaborate with senior teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results. Requirements: • Proven experience in laboratory operations, production or manufacturing and team management • Strong knowledge of ISO 17025 and quality systems. • Experience managing P&L and financial reporting. • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire teams. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
