ECT Primary Teacher
Location: North Shields, Newcastle
Salary: £125 - £155 per day

GSL Education’s Newcastle branch is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to join our client primary schools in North Shields. This role is ideal for Newly Qualified Teachers eager to take on more responsibilities and make a significant impact in the classroom. As an ECT, you will have the opportunity to develop your teaching practice while being supported by experienced educators and school leadership teams.
Job Summary:
As an ECT Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum, adapting your teaching to meet the needs of all students. You will also be expected to take on additional responsibilities such as contributing to school-wide initiatives, participating in staff meetings, and working closely with colleagues to enhance the learning experience for your pupils.
Key Responsibilities for ECT Primary Teacher:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver creative and differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum.
* Support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students, ensuring each child reaches their full potential.
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and other staff to meet the needs of pupils with SEND or other additional needs.
* Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to both students and parents.
* Maintain high standards of behaviour management in the classroom, using positive reinforcement strategies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
* Participate in school meetings, professional development, and training to continuously improve your teaching practice.
* Take responsibility for a subject area or extra-curricular activity, supporting the school’s wider community and ethos.
* Actively engage in the school’s ECT induction programme and mentoring support to ensure your development as a confident and effective teacher.
* Contribute to planning, implementing, and assessing interventions for pupils who may need additional support.
* Safeguard the welfare of children, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed in accordance with school policy.
Essential Requirements for ECT Primary Teacher:
* A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) with QTS.
* Successful completion of your teacher training and readiness to embark on your ECT induction.
* Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and a passion for delivering high-quality education.
* Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
* A commitment to professional growth and continuous development as a teacher.
* A willingness to take on additional responsibilities and contribute to the wider life of the school.
* An enhanced DBS check registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
