712AP Mechanical Engineer Hinkley Point C, Somerset Full time, Long term contract, Hybrid Job title: Mechanical Engineer – Equipment, pumps, valves, heat exchangers or pressure equipment Description & Background: This organisation are working a one of the UK's premier construction projects. HPC will consist of building 2 ERFP's and will significantly aid our future energy independence. The joint Design Office (JDO) has been created to reinforce the HPC site-based engineering to quickly respond to engineering queries and problems coming from site construction, to deliver the schedule and to deliver an increased scope of work. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer that will be focused on Equipment for the project. Vacancy Overview The role will be focused on the Equipment discipline dealing with pumps, valves, heat exchangers and pressure equipment. Key Responsibilities - Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests - Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met. - Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy. - Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations. - Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points. - Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk. - Report operationally to an Engineering Lead. The Skills - Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. - Extensive experience in Equipment design, installation and/or commissioning. - Specific in-depth experience in one of: pumps, valves, heat exchangers or pressure equipment - Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry. - Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment. - Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues. This role offers hybrid working - 3 days in the office 2 days from home Flexible with working hours to cater for travelling but generally 40 hours per week Monday to Friday Pay £380-£525 depending on pay route.
