Role
As a well-established outdoor development and activities centre, we are currently seeking a dynamic Chief Executive to lead us into the next exciting phase of our organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience of leadership and development within the voluntary sector.
This role will drive the strategic direction of our mission and work collaboratively with our range of stakeholders who care deeply about our aims - including Trustees, members, employees, volunteers, funders, and the local community. You will directly lead our staff team of 12. They will demonstrate innovation and a genuine passion for supporting young people and the community, as well as a connection to nature and environment.
Importantly, they will be committed to the values of Wiston Lodge, the ethos of the third sector, and approach of community learning and development more widely.
The Organisation
Wiston Lodge is a well-known and loved charitable organisation focused on offering educational & outdoors programmes to vulnerable adults, young people, and the wider community. We do this by utilising our 50+ acre rural estate.
We have been operating as a non-profit organisation since 2007. Wiston Lodge has between 5,000-7,000 people access its grounds and programmes annually, and is supported by a group of Trustees, and delivered by a committed staff and volunteer team.

Role:

* Is skilled in delivering a range of 1:1 and group interventions and supports,

Our Community and Transition team work closely with our residential house teams, young people who live with us and their families and young people who have lived with us who are now requiring support in the community or supported living in one of our community flats.
In the coming year, our primary focus will be on engaging with the young men we support as well as children, young people and families from the wider community. We will also be prioritising young people's participation by developing:
* Tailored Support : Develop opportunities specifically designed to meet the interests and needs of the young men we support. This could include sports, technology, or vocational training.
* Community Events: Organise events that bring together young people, their families, and the wider community.
* Feedback Mechanisms: Support young people to voice their opinions and suggestions through our participation groups and that will feed back to our newly developed Young Person Committee.

This is an exciting opportunity to come and join our team as a Residential Worker based at Chestnut Wynd, our house for young people. Situated in West Granton, our purpose-built house provides a safe and nurturing home for up to five young people aged 15-21 and a range of modern facilities and wellbeing spaces designed to help them grow, develop and make a successful transition to young adulthood.
As part of a team you will work closely with the young people we live alongside to provide the daily care and support they need and the advice and guidance to manage their health and wellbeing, independent learning and living skills, education and training needs. Our house staff also work closely with our community-based team to provide additional 1:1 and group supports to young people and to further develop their social and community connections. We work together with families, social work, health services and other colleagues to keep the strengths, aspirations and voice of the young person at the heart of all we do while ensuring their safety and welfare is always maintained.

A residential worker is a hugely important role for us. As a key part of our team you contribute to creating a culture of nurture and care for our young people while also ensuring the house is maintained and resourced to meet the needs of young people and staff.

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Finance is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive Officer and other senior managers to support strategic decision-making and safeguard the assets of Connecting Carers.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function, including budgeting, management accounting and cash management as well as developing and implementing financial policies and controls and lead on risk management. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the Grant and Trust officer and lead on the development of a Fundraising Strategy for the organisation, as well as managing the team responsible for delivering grants to Unpaid Carers.
You must be passionate about what we do and our commitment to supporting unpaid Carers throughout Highland. This is a fantastic opportunity as Head of Finance to use your skills and creativity to make a difference to the lives of unpaid Carers throughout Highland.
