We are specialists in the repair and refurbishment of hydraulic Pumps & Valves, Powerpacks, and hydraulic Grabs; and in the repair, re-manufacture or replacement of hydraulic Cylinders and Rams. Hydraflow also provides general engineering services in maintenance, repair and overhaul into multiple industry sectors including; Steel, Marine, Aggregates, Waste Management & Recycling, Heavy Plant & Machinery, Paper and Packaging and Food & Beverage. Job Purpose / Summary An exciting opportunity for an experienced, multi-disciplined machinist to work in a diverse and dynamic environment, producing low-volume parts (typically 1-5 pieces). This is not a production role;each day will bring new challenges that will require you to work on a wide range of machine tools & equipment to produce components for a diverse portfolio of customers, making it ideal for someone who thrives on variety and enjoys solving technical problems. Key Responsibilities Ensure that all company H&S policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues, including the wearing of appropriate PPE, maintaining a clean and tidy workspace. Able to set up and operate a range of Manual, NC and CNC machine tools (Heidenhain and Fanuc controls) to produce high quality, high tolerance components from Engineering drawings or through reverse engineering techniques. Able to independently select the appropriate equipment, methods, processes, tooling and set up to efficiently and effectively produce components in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials to specification. Able to undertake the precise measurement of components using manual measurement equipment, and to record manufacturing data for quality assurance purposes. Able to accurately calculate and estimate the machining hours required for each job for quoting and costing purposes. Responsible for maintaining machines and equipment in good working order and report any defects to management. Promote a culture of working safely as routine. Responsible for completing the required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis. Carry out any other reasonable request. Skills & Experience: Essential: Fully proficient in operation of manual lathes and milling machines. Basic experience in operating CNC machines, specifically Heidenhain and Fanuc controls, is required. Competent in the selection and set up of tooling and equipment, and the use of manual measurement tools; Micrometres, Vernier callipers, Height gauges, Bench centres etc. Problem-Solving:able to competently undertake the daily challenge of working on bespoke components and projects, ensuring each part meets the required standards. Able to work independently, managing your workflow from start to finish, in a timely, efficient and safe manner. Must be a good team player. Desirable: Time-served, apprentice trained & qualified Experience in calculating job durations for costings and quotations.
