Inpatient Ward Manager - Surgical Birmingham/ The Harborne Hospital Hours: 37.5 per week Permanent Contract Salary: competitive salary dependent on experience plus benefits We are currently recruiting for an Inpatient Ward Manager to join the Team at The Harborne Hospital The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi- specialty private hospital. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital has deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. As the Ward Manager based on the Inpatient Surgical Ward, you will facilitate the delivery of exceptional standards of care through effective clinical leadership and management. D elivering this with expertise, energy, providing guidance and development opportunities and supporting the team to make a difference. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care to patients and families are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will be driven and have a flexible approach to service delivery, developing an environment which provides care for multi-specialty pre and post operative elective surgical patients. The ward has 18 inpatient beds, six of which are enabled to provide enhanced care, up to Level 2. The Ward Manager will be highly visible to patients, relatives and staff in their role and deliver direct patient care regularly whilst proactively lead ing from the front, with the opportunity to grow and establish a high performing team. Duties and Responsibilities: In conjunction with our Chief Nursing Officer and Matron, provide effective leadership, monitoring of professional and care standards with effective use of resources Be a visible and accessible presence in the clinical area for patients, relatives and mutli -professional staff Responsible for ensuring the provision of compassionate, safe and exceptional patient care Role modelling professional standards and supporting the teams professional and career aspirations Create a culture that is one of learning and focused on improvements where all of the team can contribute Demonstrate a professional approach to work, and act in accordance with the HCA International Code of Conduct and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times. Develop the role by using evidence-based practice and continuously improve own knowledge, following PREP guidelines. Maintain confidentiality surrounding the patient’s admission and treatment at all times. Ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using HCA International approved documentation, in line with NMC and HCA International guidelines. Have knowledge of and adhere to ward and HCA International policy and professional standards. To ensure that team members do likewise Actively manage annual leave in line with HCA International’s leave policy. Appropriately escalate concerns in a timely m anner to the Matro n/ Clinical Duty Manager or leadership teams if/when required. What you will bring: NMC Registered Nurse (RN Adult) Previous ward management experience either within surgical, medicine, haematology or oncology Ability to lead, develop and grow a team. Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients Understanding of professional and current issues in nursing. Knowledge of NMC Medication Management Standards. Experience of undertaking audit.
