Degree Apprentice (Chartered Building Surveyor) As a Degree Apprentice (Chartered Building Surveyor), you will develop skills, knowledge and experience working in the Construction Consultancy Services department within Corporate Property and Land. You’ll work as part of the team and get hands on experience. You will work towards and achieve competencies that will enable you to make an effective contribution to the delivery of the Building Surveying team within the department. Under the direction of the Senior Building Surveyor, you will gain training and experience to help the service operate effectively and efficiently. You will help the Building Surveying team provide a comprehensive surveying function, including condition surveys; inception and feasibility reports; and design and implementation of schemes. This involves specification; scheduling of works; procurement and management of contractors; and adherence to time cost and quality control on various projects. The team undertake detailed surveys of buildings identifying defects and advising on repair, maintenance and restoration options. You will provide professional building advice, undertake property inspections, draw and scale plans, research, analyse and review building data, develop skills in the use of AUTOCAD, initially assist and then as your experience develops work towards leading on the delivery of building surveying projects. What qualification will I gain? You will study towards the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor (Degree) Building Surveying pathway with Northumbria University. On completion you will achieve a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited BSc(Honours) in Building Surveying. What will I need? You will need 112 UCAS points from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A-levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas or the International Baccalaureate. Or level 4 or foundation degree course in Building Surveying Pathway (passed and majority with merit and distinction grades) Please look at the attached person specification to check that you meet the essential criteria.
