Job description
The success of a government project can depend on secure, timely shipments and our Logistics team always deliver the goods. From dedicated drivers to King's Messengers, they've delivered to over 250 destinations worldwide, moving over a million kilograms of freight annually across land, air, and sea. Now, you've got the opportunity to join them.
Delivering globally.
Dispatching each shipment with care.
Seeing your impact go further.
It all matters.
Get confidential information to its intended recipients
Our Messengers are the backbone of our team. Whether collecting and delivering mail in and around London, or ensuring high-priority documents are being securely mailed overseas, they keep us connected without ever compromising on the secure nature of our work. And in doing so, they play a vital role in keeping people and places safe. As an Internal Messenger, you will prepare items for dispatch via our global courier service, organise and prioritise deliveries and make special arrangements for urgent and express mail requirements. With every day providing you with new challenges, you could be asked to arrange the delivery of highly confidential information such as files, passports and visas to government-level customers.
Alternatively, as an External Messenger you will be out and about in a variety of locations, collecting and delivering both goods and passengers, and seeing to it that every task happens on time and to the highest standards. With the need to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, you could be asked to get supplies to your colleagues who are refurbishing one of our secure buildings, or you could ensure the transfer of Ministerial boxes, seeing to it that heavy items are safely delivered to wherever they need to be.
Use your discretion to keep our information in the right hands
Regardless of whether you join us an Internal or External Messenger, you will have the flexibility to join our 24/7 shift pattern, including the ability to work on Public Holidays as required. With a professional approach to your work, you will be a motivated self-starter who is capable of coming up with effective solutions to problems as they arise.
There’s a great deal of customer interaction in these roles, so good communication and influencing skills are important, and it would be ideal if you are computer literate. You will also need to have the physical capacity to handle goods and load vehicles. If you are applying to join us an External Messenger, you will also have a driving license with no more than 3 penalty points, and you will have a good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the UK law in relation to driving on our roads.
Drive your career forward with a highly varied role
But we’re always looking to improve - just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a 'Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
