Purpose of the role
The Learning & Development (L&D) Consultant specialises in delivering mortgage and protection advice training through a blend of engaging virtual workshops, ongoing one-to-one coaching and structured training programmes. This person is a crucial part in coaching, supporting, and developing our Mortgage Advisers, helping them achieve their full potential, drive performance and deliver outstanding quality advice and service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and deliver engaging, high-quality training workshops focused on mortgage and protection advice (e.g. Protection and Mortgage Only Academy, Inductions, General Insurance (GI)).
* Provide one-on-one coaching to Mortgage Advisers, offering guidance and support to strengthen their skills and confidence and reinforce learning.
* Assess individual training needs and tailor learning plans to enhance advisers' knowledge and effectiveness in mortgage and protection products.
* Monitor and evaluate the progress of trainees, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
* Work closely with the L&D team, senior Management and Compliance to ensure training aligns with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulatory standards and company objectives.
* Update and develop training materials, staying current with industry trends, regulatory changes and best practices.
* Create video content to upload and maintain on the LMS system.
* Lead interactive workshops, building a collaborative learning environment where Advisers can build skills, ask questions and share insights.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and make recommendations to enhance learning outcomes and delivery methods.
About You
* Strong Mortgage and/or Protection Advisory experience with excellent Mortgage Product knowledge. You will have experience in working for either Mortgage Brokers or Specialist Lenders (e.g. Later Life products)
* You will be CeMAP qualified.
* Track record in coaching and mentoring Advisers to support their learning and development.
* Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail in planning and delivering training.
* Ability to provide clear, actionable feedback to support development.
* A passion for helping others grow and succeed.
* Strong relationship and rapport building skills.
* Active listening skills.
* Ability to adapt training methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs.
* Able to manage a fluctuating workload, prioritising urgent needs effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with virtual training platforms.
Desirable
* CeRER qualification.
* Experience in using LMS systems or similar to manage learning content.
