The Housing Finance Team are looking to appoint a Rent Accounting Officer to predominantly have specific responsibility for administering service charges including calculations, refunds, dealing with customers enquiries and complaints. The Rent Accounting Team provide a front-line Direct Debit service and cover a range of accounting duties. We are responsible for maintaining the Rents system for 21,000 council tenants. Duties include:
1. Front line Direct Debit service, speaking to Dudley Council Housing tenants over the phone, processing applications, calculating payments, negotiating arrears instalments.
2. Responsible for recovery of Direct Debit default payments, setting repayment plans and providing advice to tenants in respect of benefits and rent payments due.
3. Processing a range of adjustments to rent accounts and ensuring rent account transactions are calculated and applied accurately.
4. Reconciliation of a variety of income streams.
5. Providing performance and statistical information.
You will have experience in a financial, administrative or accountancy role, and possess qualifications to GCSE level or equivalent in 5 subjects including Maths at grade C or above. The successful candidate will be computer literate, customer focused and ensure a high quality of service.
