As part of our continued growth, Monocon would like to welcome a new Laboratory Technician to join the Monocon family, supporting the future of the business.
The Laboratory Technician will provide technical and analytic support for the new product development of monolithic refractories which include castables, dry vibratables, ramming and gunning mixes for high temperature metallurgical use. The candidate will work under direct supervision of the R and D Manager.

Description of the Job
1. Ideally looking for an experienced laboratory technician familiar with a working laboratory environment. Provide, on a routine basis, raw material analysis, quality control testing and other assignments as the need arises.
2. Experience of industrial working lab, materials science/applications preferred.
3. Participate in new product development or major modification efforts (for existing, new, or modified products) by conducting lab studies/identifying and testing modifications and providing support to projects by the direction given by R and D Manager.
4. Provide, on a routine basis, raw material analysis, quality control testing and other assignments as the need arises. Provide technical support to the product management and operations teams.
5. Plan and conduct scientific investigation/experimentation to evaluate changes in raw materials, materials of construction, and process and control parameters.
6. Complete training programs and diversified activities as available to increase technical skills and abilities.
7. Proficient in document/report preparation for review by the senior management team.
8. Maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning of test equipment.
9. Comfortable with planning and operating multiple work streams during daily routines.
10. Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment according to environmental and health standards. Adhere to all plant and laboratory safety rules, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
1. A degree or equivalent experience in a refractory/ceramics/cement concrete lab is considered.
2. Statistical process control and statistical quality control is desired.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills is essential.
4. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is essential.
5. Knowledge of refractories materials such as castables, ramming, gunning and dry vibratable is desired.
6. Background in chemistry, physics and/or maths is preferred.
