Job title: Associate Product Development Engineer Contract: 12 months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) – Full Time Location: Endomag, 330 Cambridge Science Park, Milton Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WN Responsible to: Implantables Engineering Director Key working relationships: CTO, Implantable Engineering Team, System Engineering Team Market Development, Quality and Regulatory Groups The purpose of the role: The role will offer you the opportunity to be support projects as a part of the development of Endomag’s future implantable products. As a part of our multi-disciplinary team your technical knowledge and creativity will help to create, analyse and develop our technical solutions which will lead to product demonstrating real clinical benefit for patients and clinical users. Our cutting-edge medical device products are developed and manufactured in collaboration with a network of third-party suppliers, contract development organisations, and consultants who work alongside Endomag’s R&D team. Endomag is certified to ISO 13485 and product development activities will need to be operated and documented to relevant medical device standards. Key Responsibilities and duties: Support the engineering design and development of new medical device products at various stages of development. Generate and test concepts and designs, considering design for manufacturing; design for high reliability based on engineering analysis; and design of experiments. Support the development and documentation of design requirements, which will form part of the Design History and Technical Files that comply with Endomag’s ISO13485 Quality Management System. Support risk management and document of risk management activities according to ISO14971 using techniques such as Hazards identification, risk analysis and evaluation, and design and process FMEA. Develop and execute formal verification and validation test procedures, and test reports. Work in a team environment. Requirements Qualifications Degree or equivalent in physical sciences, engineering or closely related field. Experience and Knowledge Up to 2 years’ experience in technical product development role, ideally within medical devices. Experience in iterative design practices through build, test and report cycles. Technical experience in areas such as CAD, dimensioning and tolerancing, FEA, modelling and mathematical analysis. Experience in writing technical documentation and reports. Experience in collaborating with external design consultants, suppliers and subcontractors. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques in support of design selection including design for manufacture and test. Experience of global medical device regulations, requirements, and standards. Abilities and Skills Proven organisational and time management skills. Excellent written and presentation skills communicating technical requirements, issues and solutions. Well-organised with the ability to work with critical attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. Self-motivated and able to manage own workload. Other Willingness to occasionally travel within the UK and Internationally.
