Vintage Train Charitable Trust (VTCT) is the 21st century’s only charitably controlled train operating company on the main line. We offer an steam and diesel train experience with high-quality dining, varied menus, authentic Pullman coaches at speeds of 75mph. Imagine being whisked away by the smell of freshly cooked bacon and eggs on your Great British breakfast or sipping Champagne over a four-course dinner, all on a steam-hauled, old-fashioned express train!
As a group of companies, we provide high-quality services from workshop repairs and maintenance of steam locomotives to innovative public events, such as the well-known kids' TV programme “The Polar Express.” We also offer the public an opportunity to be part of the experience through shared ownership and fundraising activities.

Join Our Team:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Finance to support our Managing Director in all aspects of our financial and IT systems and budgetary control functions. You will be a full and equal member of the Executive Management Team, responsible for the management and stewardship of the charity and group of companies, providing assurance to the Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure strong and effective internal financial management systems.
* Support budget holders to control budgets effectively.
* Provide accurate and timely statutory returns to support financial forecasting.
* Provide regular monthly management account reports and make recommendations for financial management, service delivery, performance, and continuous improvement.
* Manage and develop commercial bid contracts and produce weekly KPI reports on cash, receivables, and payables.
Ideal Candidate:
* CCAB qualified with strong technical financial accounting skills, particularly in VAT.
* Experience with charity SORPS (preferred but not essential).
* Experience in managing and developing commercially viable bid contracts.
* Working knowledge of QuickBooks.
* Proven track record of success in leading and managing staff to ensure positive financial outcomes.
