Job Summary Based at Gatwick Airport, you will be part of our clients on-site team, responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining smart building technologies across the airport estate. You will have core expertise in installing copper and fibre network infrastructure and a willingness to expand your skill set across technologies such as audio-visual systems, electronic security, IoT, and wireless networks. Your role involves delivering projects with technical precision, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Location: Gatwick Airport Key Responsibilities Copper and Fibre ICT Infrastructure Install, terminate, and test copper (CAT-5e/6/6A), fibre optic (OS1/2 & OM3/4/5), and voice (CW1308) cabling. Install and test cabling for electronic security and audio-visual systems. Conduct compliance testing using Fluke test equipment and Linkware software. Smart Building Technologies and Systems Assemble and install telecommunications cabinets, either pre-built or flat-pack. Install fixtures, fittings, and containment systems (tray, basket, trunking, conduit) safely. Deploy end-point devices, including security cameras, Wi-Fi/mobile access points, IoT sensors, and AV equipment. Install and patch network equipment, including servers, routers, switches, and controllers. Maintenance and Fault-Finding Assist with commissioning, maintenance, servicing, and fault resolution of technologies. Perform network infrastructure maintenance and repair tasks. Documentation Provide accurate and timely documentation, ensuring proper certification. Report progress and issues using designated systems and processes. Health & Safety Follow Risk Assessment, Method Statement (RAMS), and on-site Health and Safety protocols. Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Person Specification Knowledge Understanding of IT network architecture, cabling types, and networking equipment. Familiarity with copper and fibre cable certification standards (e.g., BSEN 50346). Knowledge of access control and CCTV installation standards. Awareness of containment system installation and health and safety risks. Knowledge of IoT technologies and emerging trends. Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and general IT skills. Ability to interpret project plans and follow technical processes. Skilled in using testing equipment like OTDR and Fluke DTX 5000. Competent in safe working practices, including working at height and in confined spaces. Behaviours Consistently high standards, with a focus on detail and accuracy. Experience Essential: - Minimum 3 years in a similar role. - Experience with copper and fibre ICT cabling systems. - Awareness of audio-visual, electronic security, IoT, and network architecture. Desirable: - Experience in critical infrastructure within airports or transport hubs. - Containment installation expertise (e.g., conduit, basket/tray, metal, PVC). Additional Information Working Hours: - Monday to Friday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm - Night shifts (as required): 7:30 pm – 5:00 am - Overtime opportunities may be available
