Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Calderdale ICB Continuing Healthcare Team for a part-time Childrens Clinical Lead Nurse, working 18.75 hours flexibly to meet the needs of the service. The successful candidate will be working remotely and will be provided with all the technical equipment to fulfil the requirements of the role.
The candidate will demonstrate an understanding of working in the community, hospitals, working with families as well as a multidisciplinary, multi-agency environment; be familiar with children's complex health needs and Childrens Continuing Care.
We are looking to recruit an individual with excellent partnership, networking and communication skills who has strong collective leadership skills that can motivate individuals and teams to build and sustain change.
This role will include working with Children age 0-25 transitioning into adulthood.
Main duties of the job
1. Be the line manager for the Childrens Case Management Service (0-25). Providing leadership and support to the Case Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the service.
2. Maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the service in line with the National Framework for Children and Young Peoples Continuing Care.
3. Adopt a child-centred approach to working with a range of people across cultures in both community and hospital settings.
Job responsibilities
The post holder, in addition to providing clinical input in the assessment and case management process for Children and Young Peoples (0-25) Continuing Care as part of a wider management team, will be responsible to undertake the following:
1. To provide clinical supervision and complete assessments to determine eligibility in regard to the National Framework for Continuing and Young Peoples Continuing Care.
2. To be highly knowledgeable regarding the National Framework for Continuing and Young Peoples Continuing Care and on the roles and responsibilities of the ICB within this process.
3. To influence and can challenge decisions regarding the implementation of the continuing care process.
4. To use clinical expertise in determining appropriateness of a care package to meet an individuals needs whilst assuring the quality and effectiveness of that package.
5. To ensure that the individual care packages are reviewed in line with local policy.
6. To proactively monitor and manage the workload of the team within agreed local and national targets and keep the Senior Clinical Operational Manager updated.
7. To effectively manage a small team, reviewing performance of individuals and team. In discussion with the Senior Clinical Operational Manager, set individual and team performance targets.
8. Will support the Head of Service and Senior Clinical Operational Lead and their team to ensure that their work-stream of programmes are planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery.
9. Work alongside the Business Manager and assist in the Management of the Teams business support function, including developing and managing the teams business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management.
10. Liaise with appropriate functions within the ICB.
11. Manage all corporate business returns, including planning and workforce returns.
12. Develop and implement a content management system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate and ICB.
13. Take a lead in the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the Team.
14. Oversight and management of all aspects of the Team budgets where delegated.

Experience
Essential
* Demonstrated experience in working in a healthcare environment
* Experience of managing caseloads
* Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
* Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques, and tools
* Current knowledge of the relevant National Service Frameworks e.g., Children and Young People, long term conditions, cancer care, and the NHS Plan as well as current issues affecting the NHS
* Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required
* Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to analyse complex issues
* Experience in setting up and implementing internal and external processes
* Knowledge of financial systems e.g., Budget monitoring, processing invoices and procurement
* Emotionally resilient with confidence to manage highly complex and often distressing situations with patients, carers, and staff, where decision making requires consideration of a range of options.
Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
* Registered Childrens Nurse
* Experience of making clinical decisions about patient care
* Post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent or Clinically qualified
* Evidence of continued professional development
