Job responsibilities Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering & cloud concepts and proficient advanced applied experience Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Advanced in one or more programming language(s) such as Python, GoLang, Java, Javascript Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.) Experience working with declarative Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools eg: terraform, ansible (or similar) Experience working in a DevOps environment and using automated CI / CD tools Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience building cloud PaaS or SaaS platforms Practical cloud native experience including runtime platforms such as Kubernetes or Serverless technologies Practical experience of open-source software and technologies as part of the cncf cloud landscape Practical experience implementing observability & visualization tooling such as prometheus/fluentd/datadog/grafana within an application environment to effectively monitor performance & system health
