The Team and Role
CAFA/CEFA - Civils Assessment Framework Agreement/Civils Examinations Framework Agreement. Amey has been working in partnership with Network Rail since 2009 to deliver the Civils Examinations and Assessment Framework Agreements. We are responsible for undertaking the examination and assessment of railway structures across the UK. Our teams deliver several different workstreams within Civil Examinations/Assessments; broadly categorized into structures examinations, structures assessments, operational property inspections/assessments, and earthworks examinations. By gathering intelligence around the condition of these assets and how they are developing and changing, we form the basis of decision making for future intervention and safety of the assets to prevent functional failure. These assets are part of the heritage of our country, and we need to ensure that they are safe to meet today’s needs as well as tomorrow’s. We also operate a 24/7, 365 days a year on-call service to respond promptly to any incidents and inspect the site to ensure we keep trains and passengers moving.
As a Civil Engineer Graduate, your overall objective of this role is to ensure the effective delivery and maintenance of infrastructure services within CAFA.
You will work alongside the team to:
* Plan and undertake bridge inspections to confirm structural details and condition.
* Develop innovative solutions to enhance inspection and technical capabilities.
* Prepare technical drawings and reports.
* Undertake numerical analysis and calculations to determine the structural load carrying capacity.
* Propose strengthening and maintenance options.
* Use your engineering knowledge and skills to deliver robust structural assessments, enabling clients to continue the safe, efficient, and optimal management of their structure assets.
Where Could This Lead?
Our Graduate Programme is designed to be rewarding, nurturing your professional development and personal growth. Successfully completing the programme will propel you to a qualified Civil Engineer within Amey, paving the way for a career into a Civil Engineer role.
What We Need From You
As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities. We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
* Civil Engineering / Civil Structural Engineering 2.2 Degree.
* UK’s full driving licence.
