Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our well-established Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary service delivering high-quality, patient-centred stroke rehabilitation in the community around Frimley Park hospital.
As a Band 7 SLT, you will provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders post-stroke. You will work closely with patients, their families, and a supportive MDT including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, psychologists, and rehabilitation assistants to enable a seamless transition from hospital to home.
You would be responsible for taking a lead role in managing and further developing the speech and language aspect of the service.

Main duties of the job
1. Deliver specialist SLT input as part of the ESD model, supporting patients in their own homes or care settings.
2. Conduct detailed assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs.
3. Develop and implement individualised care plans and contribute to goal-setting within the MDT.
4. Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students.
5. Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
6. Engage in regular team meetings, case discussions, and outcome evaluations.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Masters qualification/equivalent experience and/or intention of working towards Masters
* HCPC registration
* Relevant further studies to master's level
Skills & Knowledge
* Excellent oral and written communication skills - both informally and formally via presentations/training.
* Collaborative team approach to working
* Able to build effective working relationships, network and assert views, sometimes in challenging situations.
* Significant experience in providing training to others
* Understanding of computer-based therapy programmes/apps
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft programmes such as PowerPoint
Experience
* Able to demonstrate extensive specialist clinical experience and complex case management
* Experience of working with stroke patients
* Proven ability to develop and implement highly specialist programmes of care
* Experience of clinical audit, applying the principles of research methodology
* Experience of working in the community
* Evidence of project work/research/publication in specialist field
Special requirements
* Must be able to travel to patient's home
