Interim Systems Accountant
Duration: 4-6 months
Rate: £(Apply online only) per day (Inside IR35)
Working Model: Hybrid, 2 days a week on-site in London
About the Client
Morgan Law is seeking an interim Systems Accountant for a Local Authority in the London area.
Accountabilities
1. Maintain accurate and meaningful financial information on the finance systems, including e5 and Collaborative Planning (CP).
2. Ensure systems are fit for purpose and meet management and statutory reporting requirements by conducting regular data integrity reviews, data cleansing, and reconciliation of core systems, reports, chart of accounts, and trial balances.
3. Maintain security and approvals in the systems, ensuring adherence to Council Constitution and audit requirements.
4. Ensure finance systems are fit for purpose, including testing patches and upgrades, and collaborate with the IT ERP Team to resolve system issues.
5. Contribute to the closure of account processes and production of the year-end Statement of Accounts, including managing internal and external audit processes.
6. Implement improvements and ongoing solutions to address finance system weaknesses where applicable.
7. Maintain and develop relevant financial and management reports, systems, processes, and timetables to support key corporate processes, including corporate budget monitoring, budget setting, and year-end accounts.
Candidate Requirements
1. Fully qualified CCAB/CIMA accountant (E).
2. Recent experience working in local authority (E).
3. Experience in training or guiding others effectively on the use of financial systems and the application of financial procedures.
4. Experience in proactively identifying and implementing improvement changes in systems/processes or continuous improvements within the Service.
5. Assertive with strong communication skills, excellent listening skills, and persuasive analytical skills.
6. Good understanding of the technical operations of a Financial Management system, particularly a General Ledger system and its interfaces with other systems.
