LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Location: Newcastle under Lyme College site
Various part-time hours available - term-time working
Salary: £22,542 - £23,928 (NSUP5 - NSUP10) pro rata per annum (depending on skills and experience)

Position Overview
These vacancies have arisen due to a number of internal promotions and an increase in the volume of students with SEND requirements. We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to take up these positions across both College sites. Flexibility regarding working hours can be negotiated where requested.
You will primarily be responsible for the care and education of students with disabilities or learning difficulties. Working under the direction of the Lead Support Tutor for additional learning support, specific duties include:
1. Assisting students in their work
2. Preparation of rooms, equipment, and materials
3. Tracking learner progress
4. General individual assistance which may include attending to their health, safety, physical, and hygiene needs
Minimum Requirements
For the position, you will be qualified to at least Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE equivalent). Relevant experience or qualifications in an education or caring capacity, particularly supporting students or young people with learning difficulties and/or other disabilities, is also desirable. You will also have a good knowledge of safeguarding and equal opportunities. A level 2 note-taking qualification or equivalent is desirable.
You will be a good communicator, enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to motivate others, along with good organisational skills. A flexible approach to working hours will also be required to accommodate the needs of learners.
