The Role:
Our client is recruiting for a skilled and driven Grocery National Account Manager. This individual will be responsible for managing key retail accounts across the UK, driving sales, and building strong client relationships. They will also play a pivotal role in expanding the portfolio through new account acquisition and enhanced distribution. Key accounts currently include Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, and Waitrose.
Our client is open to flexible working arrangements, with an expectation of office attendance at least once per week. For the ideal candidate, a part-time role (minimum three days per week) will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
* Taking full ownership of customer P&L, regularly monitoring performance against budgeted objectives, identifying risks, and implementing corrective measures where required.
* Building and maintaining robust relationships with key accounts to foster long-term partnerships and drive business growth.
* Developing tailored sales and marketing strategies for each account to achieve agreed sales and profit objectives.
* Leveraging data insights to optimise category management and develop effective merchandising and activation strategies.
* Leading the launch and activation of new product developments (NPD) within key accounts, in collaboration with the Marketing Team.
* Analysing market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities.
* Preparing and delivering regular sales reports, including performance metrics, market analysis, and account updates, to the Head of Sales.
* Negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with key accounts to ensure sustainable profitability and long-term partnerships.
* Providing accurate sales forecasts and regularly reporting on progress against targets.
* Collaborating closely with internal teams, including marketing, supply chain, and customer service, to ensure alignment and effective execution.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have:
* A minimum of four years’ experience in grocery National Account Management.
* Proficiency in analysing and utilising data to develop effective account strategies.
* A proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets through developing new business opportunities and growing existing accounts.
* Strong negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of commercial dynamics.
* A high level of numeracy and advanced Excel skills.
* Demonstrable success in managing branded food and drink products within major UK grocery retailers.
* The ability to take initiative, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience in private label/own brand management (advantageous).
