About BEAR Scotland
BEAR Scotland is a trusted alliance between three renowned companies - Vinci, Jacobs, and Breedon. Together, they manage two of Scotland's four Trunk Road Maintenance Contracts (South-East & North-West) for Transport Scotland.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Principal Roads Engineer to join BEAR Scotland. This is a unique chance to lead and contribute to the planning, design, and maintenance of Scotland's key trunk road infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and Manage Teams: Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, sub-consultants, and contractors to deliver road maintenance and improvement schemes.
* Deliver Technical Excellence: Oversee the design, procurement, and construction management of road maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards.
* Project Management: Develop project plans, manage budgets, and monitor project performance from inception to completion.
* Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) procedures as part of the company’s integrated management systems.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with clients, stakeholders, and auditors, fostering effective communication and delivering excellent service.
* Innovation and Sustainability: Identify innovative solutions for road maintenance challenges, incorporating sustainability into project designs.
* Documentation Oversight: Ensure the proper production, issue, and archiving of all scheme-related documentation and drawings.
Your Skills and Experience
We are interested in hearing from candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
Essential:
* Qualifications: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with professional membership (IEng or CEng) with an appropriate body (e.g., ICE, IHE).
* Experience: Proven experience in the design, maintenance, and management of highways or road projects.
* Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in project management and statutory health and safety processes, including CDM Regulations.
* Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
* Flexibility: A proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of thriving in a dynamic environment.
* Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is essential.
