Zero Waste Scotland is a not-for-profit company leading Scotland towards a circular economy, focusing on reducing climate change impact. We are a Public Sector organization, predominately funded by the Scottish Government, with a budget of over £37 million and c.190 staff. Our goal is to inform policy and motivate individuals and businesses to adopt environmentally, economically, and socially beneficial practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement the Zero Waste Scotland Communications and Engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
* Oversee all external communications, including media relations, stakeholder engagement, corporate reputation management, and social media, to influence target audiences and drive behavior change.
* Ensure consistency in corporate communications and internal engagement to enhance the organization's reputation and culture.
* Serve as the lead advisor on communications strategies, supporting the Executive Leadership Team in risk management and opportunity maximization.
* Manage resources and budgets effectively, focusing on cost-efficient communication solutions.
* Lead and develop the communications team, fostering professional growth and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
* Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and other key stakeholders to advance Zero Waste Scotland's objectives.
* Shape and uphold the strategic narrative, brand vision, and values of Zero Waste Scotland.
* Act as a senior leader, contributing to corporate initiatives and driving organizational success.
