About Pearson Assessment Services: The Pearson Assessment Services (PAS) team provides assessment services to the UK and international assessment markets, supporting government education departments with project management, operational delivery and technical solutions. We are part of Pearson School Qualifications which supports the curriculum, qualifications and assessments for students in the UK and globally, delivering exams to over 3.4 million students in over 80 countries annually and operating as a centre of excellence in qualifications and assessment. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Team Leadership and Management: • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Test Analysts and QA professionals. • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge. • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback. 2. Test Strategy and Planning: • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans aligned with project requirements and goals. • Collaborate with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define test scope, objectives, and timelines. 3. Test Design and Execution: • Oversee the creation and maintenance of test cases, test scripts, and test data. • Ensure thorough and effective testing of software applications, including functional, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing. 4. Process Improvement: • Identify opportunities for improving testing processes and practices. • Implement best practices and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in testing. 5. Defect Management: • Monitor and manage defect tracking processes. • Ensure timely resolution of defects and issues, facilitating communication between teams regarding defect status. 6. Reporting and Documentation: • Provide regular reports on test progress, test results, and quality metrics to stakeholders. • Document test procedures, outcomes, and any deviations from expected results. 7. Collaboration: • Work closely with development teams to understand system requirements and design. • Participate in project planning meetings and provide input on test-related activities. 8. Risk Management: • Identify potential risks and issues related to testing and provide mitigation strategies. • Ensure compliance with quality standards and industry regulations. Skills & Experience • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. • Test Automation: Experience with test automation tools and frameworks. • SDLC Knowledge: Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management. • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure. • Methodologies & Tools: Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and best practices. • Team Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing a QA team. • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Agile/Scrum: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is preferred. Additional Skills: • Strong problem-solving abilities • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Proficiency in relevant software and tools Location: The role is aligned to either our Rotherham, Manchester, or central London offices. All our roles are hybrid working; for this role that means visiting your base office no more than once a week, and with the possibility of occasional business travel to UK Pearson sites.
