Purpose of the Role
The security officer is accountable to the security manager and the Security Duty Manager for the support and delivery of security within the site. You will ensure exemplary standards of security and customer service are provided to the client and visitors to the site at all times. You are the public face of the security team and should act with professionalism at all times; a can-do attitude is essential in this highly influential role.
You are an ambassador for the centre and for security, and as such you will actively promote recognition for the team, the centre, and the wider business through your exemplary behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
1. Be part of a team in a roster pattern.
2. Interact with all visitors/tenants within the buildings, delivering a world-class customer-focused service.
3. Carry out regular patrols of the centre as detailed in the security assignment instructions, being proactive and always following the company security strategy.
4. Ensure compliance with all company procedures, centre processes, and external bodies including enforcement agencies and auditory bodies.
5. Respond timely to all security issues and events.
6. Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful at all times while carrying out duties to the highest levels.
7. Ensure exemplary standards in personal grooming, strictly adhering to the site uniform requirements.
8. Continuously look for opportunities to assist visitors to the centre, proactively offering help wherever opportunities arise.
9. Ensure that the centre is a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors/tenants.
10. Manage all incidents in accordance with company and centre policies and procedures.
11. Liaise with the security manager, proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and supported.
12. Deal efficiently and effectively with emergencies including fire and bomb scares, ensuring the onsite team and client are always kept fully informed.
13. Monitor and understand human behaviour, surveilling suspect individuals, logging and reporting incidents in line with company and centre policies.
14. Maintain vigilance and manage unauthorized access by banned persons.
15. Assist third-party contractors/visitors ensuring all company and centre procedures/policies are adhered to.
16. Maintain continuous monitoring of centre radio systems, adhering to correct radio procedures.
17. Manage and maintain centre records/reference materials including health and safety records, incident forms, and the daily occurrence book.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Person specification:
1. Good verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate clearly and credibly with the centre management, senior managers, and all staff.
2. Good personality and ability to communicate with the public in a customer-focused and engaging role.
3. Capability to work unsupervised and take responsibility.
4. Aptitude to remain calm under pressure.
5. Smart appearance.
6. Flexible/Can-do attitude.
7. Must be able to attend work in line with shift pattern through own transport or public transport and have the ability to be flexible with shift start and finish times.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
1. Front Line SIA licence.
2. Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
3. First aid qualified or willing to work towards qualification.
Desirable:
1. CCTV SIA licence.
2. Professional or further qualification in security.
Working Hours: 40 hours, 3 month temporary contract
Salary: £11.82 per hour
