Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to support Children, Young People and their Families?
All potential candidates should read through the following details of this job with care before making an application.
Owing to the retirement of the current postholder, an opportunity has arisen to join the Stafford CAMHS team as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. South Staffordshire CAMHS provides assessment and intervention to Children and Young People with moderate to severe mental illness with a focus on needs-led support.
The full-time permanent (10PAs) post will provide Consultant Psychiatric input into the specialist CAMHS Service.
The Post Holder will be an integral member of the team providing assessment and treatment for young people within the Stafford area and we are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist who is passionate about improving outcomes for Children and Young People.
The Post Holder will be responsible for the assessment of patients and their families, and the formulation of evidence-based care plans. Where significant challenges emerge, the Post Holder will be responsible for ensuring the care of the most complex cases and appropriate liaison and referral to Tier 4 services when necessary.
The Post Holder will act as an Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and be willing to undertake training and assessments when appropriate. The Post Holder will also be required to maintain Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act.
The provision of care to children and adolescents who are patients of the service is often provided by other agencies; therefore, consultation and liaison is an integral part of the service we provide. This means Post Holders will be required to attend case conferences called by Social Services when they involve current patients of the service, school visits for observation, as well as liaison with and advice to tier 2/3 services. The Post Holder will also liaise and joint work with Adult Mental Health services to ensure smooth and timely transition of care into adulthood.
As a pivotal leadership role in the CAMHS team, a key duty for Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists is to support other staff through complex cases when necessary and to provide second opinions for members of the multidisciplinary CAMHS service where Psychiatric input may be indicated.
