We seek an enthusiastic individual to work alongside our team of Biomedical Scientists and Associates Practitioners to deliver high-quality care to our patients.
The successful candidate will be part of the Blood Sciences team, preparing samples for scientific procedures and performing laboratory-based manual, semi-automated, and automated procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases and the investigation of other pathological processes.

Main Duties of the Job
* Receipt and sorting of samples into the department.
* Support the role of Biomedical Scientists (BMS) within Blood Sciences under the supervision of the MLA Manager and HCPC registered staff.
* Pre-analytical preparation of samples.
* Data inputting of patient information/requests onto the laboratory computer.
* Telephone enquiry and results service.
* Assisting in the general cleanliness and tidying of the section.
* Perform laboratory-based manual, semi-automated, and fully automated analytical techniques according to the laboratory SOP.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Sound general education - ideally GCSE grades A-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
* Formal or vocational lab-based qualification e.g. IBMS Certificate of achievement or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a science-related subject.
Experience & Motivation
* Willingness to attend relevant courses and undertake specialist training as required.
* Experience of working in a blood science laboratory, performing tests and maintaining equipment.
Specialist Knowledge
* Understands the contribution of blood science to patient care.
* Aware of laboratory safety issues and maintaining patient confidentiality.
* Previous use of blood science analysers & equipment.
* Experience of using laboratory information systems.
* Experience of internal and external laboratory quality assurance methods.
