We have an exciting opportunity for a Labour Ward Co-ordinator to join our existing team on the Hinchingbrooke Hospital Site. As a Midwife Co-ordinator you will be responsible for the day to day co-ordination of the activity on the labour ward.

Main duties of the job
* Leading and managing the team, providing expert clinical midwifery care.
* Setting and monitoring performance standards for both activity and staff, ensuring a high-performing and supportive working environment.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compassionate and effective care for all women.
* Offering expert leadership advice to enhance midwifery practice.
* Taking a proactive role in the development of midwifery within the unit and beyond.

Person specification
Education, Knowledge and Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Relevant Degree or evidence of further study and experience to the equivalent
* Evidence of further study at post registration level.
* Conversant with change management and service innovation processes
* Demonstrate awareness of current professional issues.
* Computer and keyboard literate
* Further Study in Special Care of Babies
Experience
* Evidence of 3 years sound clinical midwifery experience.
* Evidence of participation in risk and clinical governance agendas.
* Experience of management of a team
Skills and Abilities
* Experience of working on own initiative and managing time effectively.
* Ability to develop self and others to use evidence based practice.
* Be prepared to work across sites as and when required
* Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
* Ability to motivate Others
* Evidence of transformation leadership qualities and empowerment of staff
