The Vacancy The Rail Fitter ensures Explore’s Rail on Track Plant (OTP) assets are maintained to the highest standards, meeting safety, compliance, and operational requirements. This role focuses on enhancing asset reliability, reducing costs, and ensuring all maintenance is conducted safely and professionally. Main Responsibilities Inspect, maintain, and repair On Track Plant (OTP) assets to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational requirements. Minimise asset downtime through proactive maintenance, efficient fault diagnosis, and timely repairs and produce and maintain accurate records for inspections. Apply expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems to diagnose and resolve complex issues. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align maintenance efforts with operational priorities. Work with the stores' team to ensure timely procurement of critical spares, minimising maintenance delays. Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager, including progress reports, risks, and solutions. Skills/Knowledge Strong maintenance background with excellent understanding of On Track Plant and attachments, ranging from Rail Excavators, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), Highway Permissible Vehicles (HPVs), Ballast Brushes, Rail Panel Lifting Grabs and Associated Rail Lifting Equipment also including telehandlers, dumpers, etc. OEM understanding of Liebherr, Komatsu, Geismar Machines is preferred. A good understanding of non-operated plant would also be preferable. Key Areas: Mechanical fault findings Electrical fault finding. Hydraulics. Fault Diagnosis. Pneumatics. General servicing and defect repair. Basic Welding Techniques. A strong level of IT competency including Microsoft Office and Excel is essential. Qualifications NVQ level 3 plant engineer or equivalent engineering trade qualification. Valid sentinel PTS card endorsed with AC and DC lines (DCCR). Full clean UK driving licence. Rail Plant Association assessed (in date). (Preferred) 3 years of Rail experience (Preferred) Statutory examination of lifting equipment certification (SE001 etc).
