Job Role: Deputy Homes Manager for our new Bournemouth home opening in the first quarter of 2025
Salary: £37,600 - £38,640
Salary inclusive of: Sleep Ins - £30 & On Call shifts - £60
Rota expectation - 40 hours per week, 6 sleep ins and 3-4 on call shifts (Depending on the needs of the Home)
Qualification / Experience:
12 months in a Deputy role, QCF Level 3 minimum, willingness to complete QCF Level 5.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To support on the rota and shift cover mentoring senior staff and TPW’s to ensure that the daily operational systems within the home are effective, and meeting the needs of our young people and the home.
To lead by example and mentor/coach the staff team as an effective and positive role model.
To be responsible for effective day to day running of the home in the absence of the homes manager - be responsible for a team of staff and work allocations, as well as undertaking direct work with children in the residential home when necessary.
To be responsible for all aspects of the residential premises.
Key Duties
1. To support the Registered Homes Manager in ensuring compliance with the company Policy and Procedures and meeting all OFSTED regulations.
2. To deputise/act up for the Registered Manager in their absence.
3. To safeguard and promote the welfare and development of the young people (as DSL in the Managers absence).
4. To ensure that the young people’s needs are recognised and met, free from discrimination within the home.
5. To ensure the home meets the individual needs of the young people as well as the needs of the organisation.
6. To ensure that the home provides a safe and sensitive environment for the young people.
7. To support the manager and team to ensure that the admission of the young people to the home is welcoming and reflects the expectations of the care plan.
8. To support the manager and the team to ensure that the young person’s placement complies with the ethos of the company and the care plan.
9. To support the manager and the team to ensure that when the young person leaves the home, it is done sensitively.
10. To ensure that the young people are supported in stressful situations, crisis or emotional and behavioural challenges.
11. To work with the manager and team towards the most positive outcomes for the young person.
12. To oversee the development, monitoring and implementation of the individual young people’s care plans and case records.
13. To support the manager in ensuring care plans are regularly reviewed by key workers.
14. To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents, social workers, schools and other professionals.
15. To ensure the specific needs of the young people are met.
16. To ensure that each young person is supported in learning to take responsibility for their actions.
17. To ensure that they are informed of their rights and responsibilities.
18. To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged.
19. To ensure the Placement and Care plan for each child is followed.
20. To ensure education is promoted and supported.
Practical Duties
1. To ensure that all staff act in a professional manner.
2. To ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
3. To ensure that all staff comply with the duty rotas.
4. To ensure that all staff read daily communications and notifications.
5. To ensure that all staff have written up any incident/accident forms as applicable.
6. To ensure that all staff are familiar with Local Authority Safeguarding Child Protection Procedures.
7. To report immediately to the Registered Manager any issues regarding Child Protection matters.
8. To ensure that all staff maintain confidentiality.
Managerial Duties
1. Ensure that you and the staff work in accordance with the Statement of Purpose and function of the home.
2. Demonstrate effective leadership to support the staff team.
3. Implement and adhere to relevant legislation for Children’s Homes.
4. Work cohesively with team members and other professionals.
5. Ensure Local Authority Social Workers are notified of significant events.
6. Ensure young people receive a sensitive residential service.
7. Complete administrative tasks necessary for the effective running of the home.
8. Ensure that the home is fit for purpose by meeting Fire Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations.
9. Support the Manager in the performance and development of staff.
10. Participate effectively in the on-call duty system.
11. Complete appropriate training within the required timeframes.
Training
1. Partake in Monthly Supervisions from our Senior Leadership Team.
2. Undertake White Trees Induction Programme.
3. Complete regular NFPS Physical Intervention and Behaviour Management Training.
4. Ensure all Mandatory training is kept up-to-date.
5. Attend all trainings booked in for you.
6. Continuous competency review monitoring by line managers.
7. Access to Level 5 through our internal promotions programme.
8. DSL- Level 3 safeguard training for designated leads.
