Job Title: Customer Account Manager
Location: Border between Sheffield and Chesterfield
Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP35,000 per annum (Depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Verus Recruitment Partners are working with a successful and fast-growing distributor based near the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire border. The business supplies a broad range of high-quality products to commercial clients and national brands across the UK, earning a strong reputation for reliability and service.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to bring on board a Customer Account Manager who can balance the development of existing client relationships with the proactive acquisition of new business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone commercially focused who enjoys owning accounts, driving revenue, and being part of a supportive, dynamic team.
The Role:
As a Customer Account Manager, you will manage a portfolio of loyal clients while also identifying and converting new business opportunities. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will have real autonomy in how you grow accounts, deliver great service, and build commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and nurture existing customer relationships, ensuring excellent service and repeat business.
2. Identify opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and expand service offerings within your accounts.
3. Actively seek and win new business through warm leads, referrals, and outreach.
4. Support the onboarding of new clients, ensuring a smooth handover and strong start to the relationship.
5. Maintain consistent communication with clients via email, phone, video meetings, and site visits where appropriate.
6. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure service quality, accurate delivery, and operational follow-through.
7. Manage account activity, track performance, and report on progress.
8. Contribute to occasional marketing or campaign support where needed.
About You:
You are commercially savvy, customer-focused, and enjoy balancing relationship management with sales development. You will be confident in your approach, enjoy solving client problems, and be motivated by achieving results.
You will ideally bring:
1. Previous experience in account management or a hybrid account management/business development role.
2. A clear understanding of how to match customer needs to tailored solutions.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and digital).
4. An ability to manage projects and deadlines effectively.
5. A self-motivated, positive, and professional approach to sales and service.
6. Confidence using digital tools (CRM systems, spreadsheets, etc).
7. Experience in B2B service or supply industries would be a bonus, but not essential.
