The Post:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse within Orkney. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Orkney is a small team, working collaboratively with other local services and the North of Scotland regional network. The successful applicant would be an integral member of the specialist CAMHS services providing excellent person-centred care for children with mental health problems and families in the Orkney community.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing their own caseload, as well as the management and supervision of registered and unregistered staff within the team. Applicants will have a background in either child mental health or other relevant experience of working with children, young people, and their families and be able to deliver a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for the children and young people of Orkney. Acting as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, they will be skilled in risk assessment and risk management and delivery of evidence-based person-centred care.
The post holder is also required to take part in the Out of Hours On-call Rota (currently under review) with Band 7 and other fellow Band 6 CAMHS and Community Mental Health Team colleagues.
The Candidate:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a registered mental health nurse qualification with active registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council UK (NMC). Applicants will have a background in either child mental health or other relevant experience of working with children, young people, and their families and be able to deliver a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for the children and young people of Orkney. Acting as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, they will be skilled in risk assessment and risk management and delivery of evidence-based person-centred care.
Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration:
This post will be based at Vaenta.
The successful candidate will work: Full Time 37 hours per week.
This post is on a Permanent basis.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.

The salary for this post is on a Band 6 £39,912 - £48,635 and if residing on Orkney, you’ll also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,587 pro rata per year, adding extra value to your rewarding career with us.
